Steps to Make Paneer Butter Masala At Home

So let’s begin with the steps on how to make this recipe at home. Just to tell you a word about it,
the curry is what brings 99% of the taste to this dish. So it is really important to bring out the
creamy and slightly sweet flavor in the curry.

Step 1- Toast The Whole Spices

You need to heat oil in a pan and add all the spices as we have mentioned above. Gently fry it over
mild heat for a few minutes. Now take it out and divide it into two parts.

  • Keep one part of the spices whole which will go in later in the curry
  • Blend the other part which will be needed in the next step

Step 2- Season The Vegetables

Initially heat A Pan And Add Butter Then Add 2 Whole Green Cardamom , Onion , ginger and
garlic on the pan. Add the cashews whole and let is fry for a few seconds on medium heat. Now
add the diced tomatoes. You do not have to take out its seeds right now.

If you have fresh parsley or coriander add its stems because it adds a very good flavor to the curry.
Fry it for a few minutes and take it out. At this point let it cool for a few minutes and take out the
Green Cardamom as its part is over.

Step 3- Blend The Seasoned Tomatoes and Cashews

Now, you have the seasoned tomatoes, cashews, and whole spices. Do not add water at first.
Blend it until it becomes a paste and take it out. You will find that the blend of tomatoes and
cashews has given it an orangish golden color. This is just the perfect color that you want to
achieve for paneer butter masala.

Step 4- Add Whole Spices and Cook the Blended Tomato and Cashew Paste

Heat butter in a wok again and add the half portion of the whole spices which have been kept
separately till now as in step 1. Just within a minute add the tomato and cashew paste as done in
the previous step.

At this stage, your recipe is more than 80% done. Now, check the thickness of the curry, if it is too
thick add some water to it but not too much. You want to keep that slightly thick texture to it. Let it
cook for a few more minutes.

Step 5- Add Paneer and Cook

Now it is time to add the diced paneer. Let it cook for a few more minutes and add salt and
pepper. To give a more buttery taste to it now add a cube of butter and let it melt in the curry. Add
some fresh cream if you have it. You can also add a spoonful of honey to it. This helps give that
creamy and sweet flavor to the dish. Cook for a few more minutes.

Step 6- Garnish

There you go, your homemade paneer butter masala is now ready to be served. Plate it out drizzle
more cream over the top and garnish with a few coriander and parsley leaves on the top.
